How to Use the Evidence Archive
Children are natural investigators. They notice what does not fit, they argue about it, and they change their minds when something better comes along. Those are not interruptions to scientific reasoning. They are the beginnings of it.
This archive is organized around that fact. It does not begin with a subject heading. It begins with a question a young reader might actually ask, and then uses whichever disciplines are needed to investigate it.
Begin with the child's question. Use the disciplines to investigate it. Use the four evidence categories to show where the answer stands.
The setting follows you across every investigation.
What students actually ask
Real questions cross disciplines
- Could CROWN really add a chromosome to a person?
- How can the Servator hang there without pushing anything?
- Is an octopus smart, or does it just look smart to us?
- Is it wrong to experiment on children even if it helps them?
- Who gave CROWN the authority to decide any of this?
- Does an artificial mind have rights?
- Who has the right to speak for Earth?
Not one of those questions belongs to a single subject. The first is genetics, ethics, and law. The last is civics, philosophy, and cognition. Real questions cross disciplines, which is exactly why organizing the archive by discipline hid them.
The teacher's role
Help students ask better questions
- — Ask what the student noticed before asking what they concluded.
- — Ask how they arrived at the answer, not only what the answer was.
- — Ask what evidence would change their mind.
- — Ask who benefits if the claim is true.
- — Ask what the claim assumes without saying so.
- — Ask which of the four categories the claim belongs in, and why.
- — Ask what a person who disagreed would say.
- — Ask what would have to be measured to settle it.
- — Ask what remains unanswered even after the best answer available.
A teacher does not need to hold every answer. In several of these cases science does not hold one either, and saying so honestly teaches more than an invented certainty.
Being wrong is not the opposite of learning. Refusing to examine how one might be wrong is.

The classroom this archive imagines is the one Dani walks into. Students are allowed to disagree, including with the teacher. A wrong answer is met with how did you get there rather than no. Changing your mind is not treated as a betrayal of your earlier self. The walls are covered with questions instead of commandments.

Categories of intellectual honesty
Established Knowledge
Supported by current evidence and testable today.
Plausible Extrapolation
A reasonable extension of developing science.
Servator-Enabled
Theoretically discussable but beyond human engineering.
Speculative Fiction
Where the story has moved past testable knowledge and plausible prediction. Not a weakness — a boundary marked honestly.
The four categories are labels of intellectual honesty, not a ladder running from good down to bad. Speculative fiction is not a failure of the science. It is the point at which the story admits it has left the map, and saying so out loud is the most scientific move on the page.

A cycle you can repeat on anything
01 · Notice
Something does not fit. Say what it is.
02 · Question
Turn the noticing into a question that could be investigated.
03 · Classify
Which of the four categories would the answer live in?
04 · Investigate
Find what is already known and who disagrees about it.
05 · Test
Ask what measurement or observation would decide it.
06 · Challenge
Argue the other side as strongly as you can.
07 · Consider consequences
If the answer is true, who is affected and how?
08 · Revise
Change the claim to fit what you found.

Civics and social questions
Making the invisible visible
Science questions come easily to children. Civic and social questions do not, because the rules around them are simply the water they swim in. A child can ask what the Servator is made of far more readily than why a driver stops at an empty intersection at two in the morning.
The move that makes civics askable is to name the invisible rule first. Why can you not walk onto a highway? Why does nobody carry goods out of a store without paying? Who decided any of it, when, and what happens when enough people stop agreeing? Once a student can see the rule as something written by somebody, the Assembly, the enhancement statutes, and the ten representatives become the same kind of question in a stranger setting.

The chromosome question runs the whole cycle in a single investigation: a student notices that CROWN says the Kings were protected, questions whether a protected person can also be an obligated one, classifies each part of the claim, investigates real bioethics, tests it against the Enhancement Council activity, and arrives somewhere the novel itself refuses to soften.
